We sat and watched this the other night and while I was watching it… I am actually relating to some of the things going on in the program.
I have blogged before about Allan being a Major hoarder and me having slight hoarding tendencies, I would say I am more of a collector of kitchen ware etc. But saying that I do use it and do cook and bake a lot and make birthday cakes blah blah blah…. (Am I convincing you yet I’m not as bad as Allan)
Yes I have a shed full of kitchen stuff but my excuse is it’s because the kitchen is so small, and If I had a bigger kitchen I wouldn’t need a shed.
Allan on the other hand is not only a hoarder but he is also a messy bugger…. he gets stuff… uses it and never puts it away… I get fed up.. bung it all in a crate and just put the crate upstairs in either our room or the back room… hence both rooms now are full of creates and boxes full of stuff…. Yes some of it probably if he sorted it out could be thrown away, some could go in the loft… and some would have a use…. I have no doubt that there are probably some items that we have at least two if not three of because he can’t find the one I have put upstairs in a crate waiting for him to sort out so he has gone out and got another one..
When I watched The Hoarder next Door
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-hoarder-next-door when I saw those rooms in both their houses… My immediate thought was we have at least two rooms and an Attic just like that..
I don’t know if it has scared me into being ruthless and throwing stuff out every time Allan goes out… just a crate at a time so he never notices and I can finally get into bed from my side, or just grateful now that its only two rooms and an attic like that and not the whole house….
I would by this book for Allan but then we have 1000’s of books as well lol
