Not so Happy Halloween….

Usually we Halloween big time, Put up decorations in the house and out the front, I bake cakes and buy candy for the kids coming round and we take the boys out trick or treating but it’s not to be this year.
Allan did take them to a Halloween Party last night (I had a really bad stiff neck yesterday and really didn’t feel like going)  but when they got home both started coughing and were white as sheets,

I did wonder if they were tired as we had been to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum  in the day time and it was a couple of hours drive away from us,  A couple of hours looking around and then a couple of hours drive back so along with the party it had been a long day.

They went to bed but  I was woken up at 2am with Ali saying he felt sick, I came down and sure enough he had been sick, but it was all phlegm and his chest was really bad as his Asthma is really bad, again So two hits of his puffer later and he came in bed with us, he slept a little, I didn’t sleep at all .

I got up today and both him and Alex were now bad, so all plans of putting all the decorations up and going to a Halloween Party in a hall, followed by a Halloween show, and then trick or treating in Iwade and then trick or treating around us went out the window. even the boys didn’t put up any argument  (hence I know they really are ill)

I did go and pick up some extra sweets for them so they at least had a few…. and I have got some if some kids do knock but we decided that we wouldn’t put the decorations up  and would have an evening in watching some films or something and change Halloween day into a sofa day hoping that we don’t end up at the hospital in the next day or so with Ali on a Nebulizer,

We will make up for it next year.

On the plus side at least they are on half term break from school and can hopefully get better before they are due to go back to school on Monday.

Allan at the Halloween Party yesterday being turned into a Mummy:

A new Addition to the family……… Well Hello Molly

I said no more dogs…. I said No more pets…. I said No at least 20 times… and well …. here is our new addition Molly and how we ended up being a two dog family..

Just as we were on our way out the door, there was a knock, Did we want to buy a Staff Puppy I said NO… I’m sure I said no… I looked at Allan and said No… No… No… No.
we went to get the kids in the car and our neighbour brought the puppy out to show us…Just for the record, I’m still saying No….  Really I am… I am looking right at Allan and saying No…….

She explained that her son had bought it for his girlfriend, two weeks earlier but they had now spilt up and she didn’t want the dog… So he has it at home with mum… Mum however already has two staff boy dogs at home who really didn’t get on with this pup and she needed it gone that day… it was already jabbed. had the next set of jabs paid for and the microchipping. They had paid £180 for it two weeks ago and originally tried to get their money back, and all we needed to do was take it next week for its jabs and chipping. …

I’m still saying No at this point while Alex is cuddling the puppy. On hindsight maybe it was not a good idea to let him hold her 😆

I’m thinking No… I’m saying No… but no-one is listening…

I say I’m not sure how Teal’c would take to a puppy in the house… I know he is ok with friends dogs but I was a bit worried he would play too rough.. Anyway my last argument was we had nowhere to keep her and I had taken my kitchen door off and we had to go out as we had promised the boys we were taking them to Hornby that day…
I am reminding Allan what a nightmare it was to house train Teal’c and how he was nearly a year old before we could honestly say we had nailed it.
I also pointed out the many nights I had to sleep on the sofa because we had a crying puppy in the house.  And how we had no bedding or anything for it and I really didn’t want to have to go and get any

It was at this point they said she came with her crate, Bedding, food, bowls and everything… and all they wanted was £20 for the lot…

Allan looked at me and it was at that point I knew I had lost….

It has also crossed my mind that if we didn’t have her then one of the pikeys that live round by us probably would at that price and god knows what would happen to the sweet little puppy….

Sweet little puppy Yeah… right she is far from sweet let me tell you.. this girl is going to be a right Bitch…  I will have competition in the house… Actually her temperament reminds me of my beloved Shar Pei I had years ago called Zelda… she was the most loyal dog I have ever known to the family… Hated everyone else… even as a puppy she wouldn’t let anyone else pat her head… I had to crate her if anyone came in the house… Funny enough the only person she tolerated was Allan , she even hated my ex…
Anyway Molly I think will be very similar.

we put her indoors in her crate… told Amber she was there and took the boys out for a few hours..

When we got back we introduced her to teal’c at which point she barked and growled at him and he hid behind us..

this pup is only 9 weeks old her birthday is

19th August 2012 and she is very similar colourings to Teal’c

The one thing I will say is she is a feisty little thing as she really does rule the roost… Teal’c is learning to stand up to her and give her a growl back to put her in her place… there is no malice in it, more of I am Alpha Dog here you little squirt

Life will certainly be interesting with the two of them

but in the mean time we are back to puppy training again.. she has two favourite spots… in the bathroom for piddling and right by the front door for poo’ing… we are working on this as I type

Anyway… As I have said before I want it noted that I did say NO repeatedly… 🙄

Say Hello to Molly

Rugby Vs American Football (No contest)

Last night we were watching the New England Patriots play the LA Rams at Wembley Stadium in London on Tv, it is the 6th year that American Football has come to Wembley, Now years ago when I lived in the states I used to go and watch Washington Redskins play..

(you can tell it was years ago by the very bad 110 picture quality and the fact that it was scanned from a very old negative. )

Anyway one thing that struck me last night was how boring American football had become. It’s not even the same game I used to watch 30 years ago, it’s now a Quarterbacks game and even more sissy then it was before and the quarters are dragged out even more now than they were before…. I have to say give me Rugby any day.

It’s interesting that American Football and Rugby are so similar yet so far apart in so many ways.

In the UK American Football is considered a dis-jointed affair played by biggish guys who need more padding than Joan Collins, lots of make-up (those funny stripes they paint on to look hard- ooh scary!) and no real fitness level due to the constant breaks to allow TV advertising/ stoppages/ time to redo their hair and make up, to ruin the whole game. Basically we consider them big girls blouses who need full-blown body armour… oh and they have no bum cracks, No Seriously, they have so much padding on their tush that it looks like it is one solid part of the boy, abet the tight-fitting trousers do make it look rather nice..

Now to me Rugby Union (and League) is played by super fit guys who need no real protection and who can get battered, clattered, punched and run constantly for 80 minutes with only a short break in the middle. If they bleed they beg the ref to let them carry on, they are real men, who also I must say have nice tushes, The only piece of body protecting equipment they really have is the gum guard. well they need something to keep their teeth intact because I have seen many amateur rugby players and their teeth are not the greatest. as far as the game goes itself, The team work involved is immense and it stirs real emotion to see players protecting their team mates at all costs.

So, would an American Football team beat a Rugby team at Rugby? Absolutely not, never, it’s just not possible.

So, would an American Football team beat a Rugby team at American Football? I’m guessing here but I would say it’s not likely once the rugby players have spent 5 minutes (maybe 6:)) reading up on the rules and making up a basic strategy.

I know because it happened once, when I was living in the states and a group of guys on the Embassy rugby team were chatting to a bunch of American guys and we arranged a friendly and yes the Brits whipped their Arses, at both Rugby and American football, I can’t remember the results sadly as it was many years ago…

I do remember that it cost the Americans dearly in pizza and beer on both occasions. as looser paid for the after match commiserations, celebrations,

I even took some pictures (here are some but again old pictures) and The one thing the Americans complained about the most is the fact that they couldn’t wear all their padding playing the rugby match….

And the one thing the British guys complained about the most was that they HAD to wear all the padding playing American Football.

Bondi beach in real time, The World didnt end today in the UK.

Every Saturday I like to depress myself by checking Bondi beach in real time… have a look, its weird to think that as we are going to bed, on the other side of the world, many are flocking to the beach on our tomorrow lol…

Of course the other reason I like to look at this live web cam is the fact that of course we all know that Australia is way ahead of the UK in time.. So their present time is our future………… So the whole time that picture is changing every 6 seconds or so and I can see there is no sign of mass destruction I know the world is not going to end that day lol    I wonder now how many people will put my theory to the test on the 21st December 2012…
I bet this site will have more hits than ever before all from people in the states and uk lol you know the real whack jobs 😉

Proud Mummy Moment… Parents Evening

What can I say I am So very proud of my boys,

Yesterday Evening both Allan and I went to the parent teacher evening at the boys school,

I was so impressed at what both boys teachers have said..
They have both worked very hard, both have taken to the new teachers and are so well-behaved at school,

Both Alex and Ali’s teachers said they were a Pleasure to teach. (I did have to do a double-check to make sure they were talking about the right kids)

I swear that they are both a reincarnation of The World Famous Jekyll & Hyde because they are nothing like that at home,

Ali is the one that has surprised me the most as I have worried so much about how he would settle down this year, He has had the same teacher for his reception year and year one… and for him it was such a big change to move up to year 2 and change classroom and have a new teacher I really did worry how he would cope as he really doesn’t like change, but he has settled in well and his teacher fully understands how his brain works as she is used to working with autistic children and those with Asperger’s  who are in main stream schooling and she really is getting the best of out him… he likes her as well which really helps.

Alex, Well Alex always has such a good report.. for a child who is 8 going on 18 when it comes to attitude at home, apparently he is lovely and polite at school, has an extended vocabulary and expresses himself very clearly at school with the ease of an adult.. which apparently in his teachers eyes was a good thing… In my eye maybe his vocabulary and expressions in an adult way were not such a good thing but evidently he is not using the same vocabulary and expressions at school that we hear him using at home 🙄

He is top of the class in every subject, his reading and understanding of his reading is on par with a “Well educated Adult”

The Only criticism they could come up was they both had scruffy handwriting…

Erherm I have no Idea where they get that from 😉

But hay that is what they invented a keyboard for 🙄

Anyway that is my proud mummy moment..

And if I am honest I would rather have the boys giving me all the trouble and hell and being silly etc. at home and behaving and working well at school than having it the opposite way around
I am not one for buying toys etc or treats like that in-between birthdays and Christmas. usually the most they get is something like a bookmark or sew on badge or something from a museum that we go to ,  but we have told both boys that as a few weeks ago they both came home with star of the week, and we have had star of the days and lots of house point certificates since they both went back in September that they in the half term we will take them out and they can have a toy or something of their choosing for £10 each
