Usually I avoid politics with a passion,

Well spouting about it anyway, I figure everyone has the right to vote how they want and I am not going to force my views on them

But, I learned something today that I should have known so I will turn my embarrassment into a public service broadcast.

For many people who are born deaf, written English is not an accessible language. It’s something you can learn, perhaps, but it’s not something you can learn easily. Perhaps a bit like how I found learning Arabic. Your native language is BSL.

The reason this came up is that there is one major political party which has so far failed to provide a BSL version of its manifesto (yes, it’s the Conservatives).

That’s pretty shoddy – I should have known this, but the people producing manifestos definitely should have done.
