Counting down the days

Time seem’s to be flying by,  I have everything sorted, we have everything we need, but I do confess there are quite a few things to make up, like favour bags, a few decorations to put together. oh and my dress to find (it was put away in a safe place, now all I have to do is remember where that safe place is)  and steam when it is found as it’s bound to be creased now, and iron the men’s shirts, their suits are all hung up .. well I say men’s shirts, by that I mean Allan and the boys, but to be honest they are mini men.
I think Allan is more excited than I am, to be honest.

I fooking hate time wasters.

The cheek of  some people. My dad had a mobility scooter, He bought it Feb 2014 and paid nearly £3000 at it was the top of the range of scooters, plus he paid an extra £250 for spare batteries and charger pack so you could charge up one set of batteries while using the scooter.   it was only used when we went around airshows or out for the day or in Asda’s if all their scooters were in use. It basically spent its life either in the boot of the car or in my dad’s flat parked up. Ironically it’s how I broke my foot tripping on the anti-trip wheels at the back when we were clearing his flat. Anyhow  I put this scooter up for sale and thought £400 was reasonable enough but to be honest after finding out the amount of damage I did to my foot and how long im going to be in the air cast and knowing I can’t walk that far we were in two minds whether or not to keep it, especially in the summer when we go to combined ops and are going to be walking around all day. Anyway, this woman had seen the advert and asked to  come and see it. We arranged for her to turn up about 11 am as she lived about an hour and a half drive away.We had been invited  to go to a BBQ in the afternoon about 2 pm as Allan was working in the evening and had to be there for 8pm We waited and waited and still no word from them. I did see that the main rd they had to use to get here was shut because of an accident so about 2pm contacted the people we were supposed to be going to for the bbq and told them we couldn’t make it because I would feel guilty if they had travelled all that way and been stuck in a traffic jam for nearly 2 hours and we were not in.  Eventually, they turned up and the first thing she said is what a terrible drive they had, had. which was understandable and that she was never coming to Kent ever again in a very stroppy voice. The proceeded to complain about the scratches on the back of the scooter.. well I had stated that they were there in the advert. in fact I had even posted pictures of the damage on the back in a larger picture . $_57 199545_1968136084836_6638389_n 11032506_10206453494201149_573788506_o

11160410_10206453490161048_1436108609_n   After complaining about the “state” of it, she then took it for a test drive……….. and complained about the lack of speed.. she wanted one that went about 8mph.  well if she had read the spec and I had posted it large so again it was easily readable She had already asked what the lowest I would take for it. when she first called me and then I had told her £380 plus I had others contact me offering me £350 which I had refused.  So she then asked Allan if he could fit it in her boot so her husband rode it over and Allan took it apart and showed them how to put it in the boot easily as there was a knack to make it take up the lease space.  then she said… “oh I wasn’t expecting it to fit” and then offered me £100 for it as that would be all she was willing to pay… at which point after standing out there  for nearly an hour while they were looking at it and test driving it etc with a broken foot that was beginning to hurt I’m afraid I lost my patience.. I just said to Allan. take it out of their car and put in back in the landrover.. you know what I will keep it….  the woman looked at me as if to say.. I thought you would take the money as it was already in the car…  Allan took it out.. put it back together and rode it down to the landrover.. took it apart and put it away.   She then said well that was a waste of fuel I think you should reimburse me if you are not willing to sell it and she was going to complain to the site I had advertised it on.  I refrained from telling her what I thought she should do but instead said,  if she was willing to pay the full price she could have it.. if not then it’s not for sale. I also informed her that no selling site going would listen to her complaint. but she could feel free and try.   At which point both Allan and I went indoors….   So we missed out on the BBQ as by then it was nearly 5pm and wouldn’t have been worth going anyway for a couple of hours. so a quick homemade pizza it was for dinner……  And now it’s glass of wine time.

All because the lady loves Milk Tray

Actually the lady loves any chocolate!

But It was a lovely surprise when Allan came home from the school run today and gave me this big box of chocolate’s because he felt like it…

My reply… what have you done? What do you want? 😆

Apparently he loves me and thought he would spoil me AWWWWWW……..

Things are slowly getting back to normal, whatever normal is.

As I said things are slowly getting back to normal,  Allan went off to cub camp last weekend with Ali, the pair of the had a great time, I’m never sure who is the biggest kid.

As I had been stuck indoors all weekend and the boys were on half term this week I decided we needed to go out or should I say I needed to go out, so we had a few day trips.

we took the boys and one of their friend Joe to leysdown the local seaside resort about ten mins drive away if you don't get stuck in traffic getting on the island.

Wednesday was our invicta arachnid meeting where we had a great talk by hazel from wildwood which is a nature park, the talk was on the dormouse and she brought one to show us. oh and we cleaned out in the raffle, we won £10 and this bag of goodies, not bad for £3 worth of tickets.

We had a lovely meal out at the local pub which is only a few mins crawl I mean walk home 🙂

All in all it has been a really nice relaxing week,  it really does make a change getting out and about again after not being able to go anywhere because of going back and forth to the hospital or clearing my dads flat or not being mobile because of my broken foot.
I have an appointment at the fracture clinic Tuesday and I am hoping they say I can take the air cast boot off officially, to be honest I have stopped wearing it indoors as I would rather put up with the slight pain then be clumping around with it, and I have never worn it at bedtime.

It’s now 3.36am Friday night/ Saturday morning, I have Darren my grandson here for the night as I babysit him most weekends and we are planning on going to a boot fair in the morning/later on so I had better try and get a couple of hours sleep.

I will sign off with a couple of silly pictures,  one when I was cutting Ali’s hair and decided to take a picture before I shaved the last bit off, like you do and a picture I found on my phone which Alex had taken of himself being silly

So much to catch up on

I’ll be honest so much has gone on since last year that I’ve not been in the frame of mind to do anything for months. the run up to Christmas was hectic, between school activities, working, courses and the usual preparations
But Christmas itself was lovely. We spend half the day with my dad over for xmas dinner. Little did we know it would be the last. And then in the evening we had friends over with their little girls and we had a great time-sharing presents. Boxing day was the same. Hectic and a time for friends.  After a couple of false Alarms in the following week. My gorgeous grandson was born on new year’s day. I was so honoured to be there at his birth. Wow things are so different from the other end of things.  After that things went downhill for us.
The head gasket went on Allan’s car and it was declared deceased and of course just after xmas finances or lack of them meant that we couldn’t afford to fix or replace it. Ali got chicken pox and had spots everywhere so missed nearly two weeks of school and then at the beginning of Feb my dad wasn’t feeling well. So went home early after his usual visit in the morning. I spoke to him in the evening and he said he was feeling  a bit better. The next morning we hadn’t heard from him by 10am so went round the flat to find him collapsed on the floor. This resulted in him being taken to hospital. For the next 5 weeks I spent everyday bar three going back and forth to the main hospital in Medway which is about a half hour drive away. and then he was transferred to St Thomas’ hospital in London. So I spent another 3 weeks going back and forth to London, sadly the day before his birthday he passed away. During the whole time he was in hospital i was still having to go around his flat everyday to feed his fish and check mail etc. So three days before his funeral I am boxing stuff up as we had to clear the flat and I  trip over his mobility scooter and hurt my foot. Somehow after sitting down for an hour. I decided to man up and managed to drive home in the landrover.  The next day I was still in a lot of pain so off we went to the hospital to find out I had broken my foot in three places and cracked my heel.  So they put a cast on and told me to go back to the fracture clinic in ten days. So I ended up going to the funeral in my dad’s wheelchair. Thankfully after the ten days when I went back I had the choice, another cast for 6 weeks or an Air boot for 10 weeks. I chose the boot as I can at least take it off at night. As we arrived home I went to get out of the car and as I was getting my crutches out of the back of the car Allan shut the door on the car and caught my fingers in it.. resulting in a broken finger as well,  you have to laugh., anyway back to the boot.  At least  I take it off at night and every time I sit down although I’m not supposed to really. only to have a bath and at night after the first two weeks but of course I pay no attention to that lol . Unfortunately, it means I can’t do much in the house so we are sitting with boxes of my dads bits everywhere. Our bedroom is a store-room as I can’t get upstairs anyway (we are both sleeping on the sofa) and that’s about brought me up to date. I went back to my maths course on Monday afternoons last week  ( I’d  not been since Jan) Allan had to drop me off and pick me up as I can’t drive. But other than that ive not done anything else apart from numerous visits to solicitors to sort out my dad’s affairs with my brother. So that’s about it. Nothing else has gone on really.  So basically with the exception of Darren my grandson’s birth. This year sucks big time.

Cars behaving badly

In the last week we have faced the challenge of All three cars being off the road at the same time..

Car one  Allan’s Corsa…….. Needed a new battery fitted and now starts so Allan can actually get to work and back at silly o’clock in the morning, without me having to drive him. The things I do for people…. and take my word for it.. going out at 4am to drive him to work and then again at 9pm to pick him up was not fun….

Car two My land-rover……. the starter motor all of a sudden gave up, well actually not all of a sudden. I went over to Maidstone with a friend.. we got back to the car park and when I went to start it the landy wouldn’t start, I shifted the gear lever, kicked whined , kept turning the key and eventually it started…  the next day Allan and I went to Asda’s and when we went to leave it wouldn’t start at all.  RAC man to the rescue and it was the starter motor… so order one from ebay and two days later……
New starter motor fitted by Allan and I… (yep I did my bit and have the bruises and oil on clothes to prove it ) thankfully that worked…

Car three (my dads car we borrowed while the landrover and the corsa was off the road..)  and I’m driving along going to the butcher in stockbury about 11am after driving Allan to work about 28 miles away so a nice round trip of about 60 miles,  took boys to school and then went shopping and of course.. that’s when the exhaust fell off….  oh deary deary me I thought… actually I didn’t I thought for fuck sake………Sooo  I called the RAC  (we certainly get our money worth out of that membership lol ) and they came out and gave it a good kick , WTF  I could have done that instead of waiting two hours for the twat to come…..  then it was a trip to kwik fit and another couple of hour wait while they get the right exhaust in as the first one delivered was the wrong one… . then it was a mad rush to go and get the boys from school.

Before

£239 After

£239 After

So there we have it..  Mondeo with new exhaust system on and running.  Bonus for the old man as we had to pay for it as we were using it……
Landrover with brand new starter motor on..
Corsa with New Battery  (heavy-duty ) on … and while we were at it put new shocks and springs on front and back and a new exhaust tail pipe on it trying to de boy racer the car as the erm young lad who had it before us had lowered it right down and put the loudest exhaust on it going.

And with the exception of the exhaust on the mondeo we managed all by ourselves……..

I can deal with cars breaking down but next time Not all at the same time please…….

Where there is a will there is a way.

Over the years Allan has had many a job,  but if we go back to when we actually got together… he was a chef……….. He was a chef in Canterbury, and then when we moved to Sittingbourne and he ended up in the Quays  He got a job as Head Chef in the Red Lion in Bluetown.. he did this right up until I became really ill when Alex was a baby.. and I’m talking weeks old.  I had, had a sore throat but insisted on going to work.. Allan worked from 4pm till gone 1am by the time he cleared up and got home. I worked from 7am to about 2.30pm selling advertising and working for a local slr radio station.  we literally saw each other in passing, Passing Alex over. Allan looked after him while I was at work and I took over when I got back in.    Things were just starting to look up.. I had been offered temporary accommodation. a Three bedroom, house… We looked at it and straight away agreed… I got the keys Wednesday.. we moved the few bits we had in and I went to work in the morning and by lunchtime I was feeling so Ill, my boss told me to go straight to the doctors. I walked into the surgery to book an appointment and the nurse sent me straight into the doctor. who arranged a hospital bed for me at Medway hospital and told me to make my way there it would be quicker than ambulance…..  My throat and neck had swelled up.. I had this massive lump in my neck.

Anyway… result was Allan moved into a new house. looked after new baby and I was in hospital for at least a week.  When I got out of the hospital I couldn’t work for over two weeks. and when It was time to go back I decided to work from home…….. until Alex was about 3 months……..  Allan was working long hours and something had to give…..
He gave up being a chef and went to work for his brother-in-law landscape gardening.. the work was hard labour but the hours were a lot better.  Allan did this for quite a few years.. until his legs started playing up big time.. He has always had problems but with enough pain killers could plod along.  up until about two years or so ago when his brother in laws business started failing….  So Allan was put on the sick as he couldn’t sign on.
During this time… he kept himself busy.. he took his HGV test and got a Licence. He also became a scout leader and did some training… gained a SIA licence……  not to mention other bits and pieces.  and of course volunteering collecting cardboard for the scouts…

fast forward to now.. Allan started a confidence building course….
This course gave him the confidence he needed to get back into the swing of things….    and he decided that it was time to start looking for a new job but something different.  He wanted to make the most of what he had. his driving licence….. his SIA licence…….. And so started applying for jobs….. Everyone said he wouldn’t even get an interview.. but hey He Applied for 6 jobs…….. got 4 interviews, one just from dropping a cv off at a firm because someone said they were hiring drivers. …… and got offered 4 jobs……..  The problem is he still wanted something that would fit in with the hours he needed to do the scout stuff……….   one job didn’t have the driving job but they offered him a job working shifts………..  he decided that was not for him.. the others were good jobs but the distance to travel to London didn’t make it worth working.

So in short… here we are……..

Life as we know it may never be the same again……

After a major decision lately & looking for a Change of Direction in Life
Very Proud of Allan  Not bad going to 4 interviews in the last few weeks and each one resulted in the offer of the Jobs. Some Suitable some not so….
After deliberation… He has decided to take the one offered to him this afternoon at the interview…. and he started tonight. way to go.

— feeling very proud

Good hours,  Overtime when wanted……….  Distance not bad in comparison to others…….    and doing what he likes……….
Win Win… so now While I am typing.. he is working………..  weird………..
