Remembrance Sunday Parade and Memorial Service.

Today we marched in the parade down to the  Cenotaph in the town for the Memorial Service.

As usual both boys did us proud and behaved impeccably even Allowing for the fact that Ali really doesn’t do standing around he seemed to understand that for once a year it wouldn’t hurt.  Ok I did have a back up plan if he had started to go into melt down.. I took the ds with me and had every intention of telling him to go and sit and play on it.. but there was no need he stood to attention the whole time.   Both we even quiet for the silence..
Alex  had the honour along with a beaver called lewis to lay the wreath  at the base of the cenotaph that the troop had made…
I will pop up the town and take a picture of it if I get the chance tomorrow.
I was so proud that he was chosen and was busy watching that I forgot to take a picture :/

Ok I must start off  with the pictures of Vickie during her head shave for red nose day…  I’m not sure of the exact amount she raised…  but the just giving site says its
£432.10  although I have a feeling its a lot more than that because there were some who donated directly via her.

hair it is (pun….. get it get it get it 🙂 … going going gone……

We went to Hornby make and paint days a couple of times…….  the kids love it here so it’s another of the places we have an annual ticket and keep going to over and over again

FB_IMG_13515203088929239 SAM_0541 SAM_0543

We had a morning of cake decorating which was gratefully received by friends …………   Now I usually stick to butter frosting and or just Glacé icing  or Royal Icing when it comes to things like Christmas Cakes but for a change I used Fondant Icing and petal paste…..    This has now convinced me I really must do more because some are pretty dire :/

And then we had a quick trip to Pontins at Camber…….  I had it well planned I packed school uniforms with me so they would have a clean one , I collected the boys from school, we drove straight to Pontins……… spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there and drove back early Monday morning in time to get the boys to school… I timed it perfectly… we had them outside the school gates at 8.40 🙂
After having such rainy or cold weather….. we had a fantastic weekend it was lovely and warm and yep I got sunburnt…  I do confess we go club.. which is kinda like as close to first class as you are going to get at pontins.. with the free breakfast and bottle of wine , free electric, tv , newspapers , welcome packs blah blah blah.. I have no idea what the Popular or Classic flats are like , some of them looked quite dire…………  we stayed in one ten years ago when I was pregnant with Alex and it really was pathetic and grubby and they don’t look like they have changed much since…   Hence why we go club….
To be fair I didn’t take many pictures this time as I took loads last time we went and we are going again this year……… ok I was having fun……… I didn’t want to miss out standing behind the camera 😆
Not only that we spent 50% of the time in the pool , One slightly worrying moment when Alex ran off and went on the big inflatable Aqua Course which starts at the deep end and goes all the way to the shallow end about 3ft deep , Alex leaps on and at the first bit falls off right into the water about 7 ft deep……..  at this point I seriously wonder how good his swimming is lol but he bob’s up to the top and off he swims front crawl to the side of the pool. joins the queue and starts again only this time he completes the course and joined the queue again… over and over… I think after the 5th go he got bored with it..

In between All these activities as such of course Allan still does his recycle round collecting cardboard for the scouts and doing his leader training ….

here he is getting invested into the scouts as cub leader

And last but not least yesterday we went to the District Scout Inspection, Formal Service and St George’s Day Fete  where The Sittingbourne and Milton District Scout Group had invited the Mayor to jointly inspect the Scouts with the District Commissioner, at Bexon Lane Scout Camp  All the troops were asked to wear full uniform with school /smart/ uniform trousers and school shoes or their scouting hiking boots (cleaned up of course lol)  sadly a few let us down but with a little maneuvering the *scruffy* ones were put in the middle

It was Allans first Official Duty as a Scout leader and to top the day off Alex was chosen as flag bearer  all in all a lovely day.. and the smash a plate stand that we manned afterwards went well, and to top off the day we had lovely sunshine all day despite the weather forecast.

Allan In his uniform... I have to confess when I said I had a thing for men in uniform this wasn't quite what I had in mind.

And  That is it for now………….. Phew………………  Hopefully I can keep up to date in future but that’s not a promise lol

We are still here and my son is 9

Yesterday was not only was  the prophesy of end of the world,  it was also Alex’s 9th Birthday.

He has been annoying the hell out of us playing his battle strikers and constantly has his new mp3 player stuck in his ears…

oh and we have been eating birthday cake. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cake…….

I on the other hand am now full of man flu which is not good especially considering the time of the year…..

My wrapping fairy came round yesterday while the boys were at school so everything is wrapped and bagged and ready,

some presents have already been given out and under the receiving persons tree..

Again I went overboard on the boys presents…….. the problem with buying stuff throughout the year is you forget what you have got or how much

Every year I say I am going to make a list and keep a record of what I have got for everyone, I have even said I would wrap it all up as I go along… Maybe next year

After all i didn’t even have to buy wrapping paper as I got loads on sale last year so I could have wrapped throughout the year after all,

I will be more organised.. I will keep a list… but I do think the boys will be happy..  they have no idea what they get for Christmas, I don’t believe in making Christmas lists.

I’m a mum I am their mum, I know the type of stuff they like…   I don’t believe in spoiling them during the year… if we go to a museum or somewhere they get a little souvenir such as a pencil and rubber or badge or patch to go on their blanket..  they get one item for their birthday… this year Alex got two because usually we take them out on a trip for their birthday but we couldn’t on Alex’s this year as he had school, every year before they usually break up the day before…  so instead of having what it cost to go out.. he got the extra present..  what he doesn’t know is it didn’t cost the £28.99 that he saw in argos but the £8.99 we paid on Amazon..  In fact I confess I have done most of my christmas shopping from the internet throughout the year when I have seen some good deals.   Sorry high streets of the country..

Thanks to the 99p shop I have now got a nice new Christmas dinner service.. without having to use the paper plates I usually use….. this I can put away and it can be used year after year…..

As I type the boys are at the Christmas pantomime in the local theatre with the cubs and beavers… Allan has gone along as he is an Occasional Helper with the scouts… soon to be leader…… will go into more detail about that when I get the time as we are both helping out the beavers and cubs a lot now..
After the pantomime we are heading off to take the boys to see Santa……  hopefully pics to follow tomorrow if I have time to post just to really bore you all…….

Anyway…  Time for me to go and get ready and blow my streaming nose before Allan gets back.
Oh and one more thing……..

See I told you I knew that the world wasn’t going to end yesterday
After All, Marty McFly travelled to 2015 😉

Remembrance Day in Britain

Today, like every day, I am incredibly proud to wear my poppy and remember those who gave their lives for our today’s. I am also proud of those who continue to serve in our forces all over the world

November is the time of the year when we wear a red poppy in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for us during wars.

The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month marks the signing of the Armistice, on 11th November 1918, to signal the end of World War One.

At 11 am on 11 November 1918 the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years continuous warfare.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Lest we forget

This year we went with both Alex and Ali to remembrance Ave in town where they met up with the beavers and cubs troop

Bearing in mind we have a child who has the attention span of a Gnat  (Alex) and a child who is Autistic and has enough problems trying to keep still at the best of times..  They both were fairly good (for them)  and stood for the whole 2 hours, with the exception of Ali wanting his coat on and needing a wee which he managed to wait until the end for.. I’m quite proud of them…  I know Allan got the hump but then expecting a 6 yr old and 8 yr old to stand perfectly still and in silence for two hours is never going to happen, not even with normal kids lol

Waiting for the rest of the troop to join the march to the Cenotaph

Maidstone is friday morning

So we took the boys out of school at 12 just before lunch and we quickly went home and fed them before making our way by car to Faversham which is the closest place to us..

Why so early when it didn’t start until 16.52? well they were shutting the roads up early and when I called to find out how much it would cost by train bearing in mind its only 6 miles up the road I found out that for two adults and two children using my discount card it would still cost over £15… No wonder people use cars.

The school was more than happy for me to take the boys out early, especially as it was for a badge to do with the beavers and cubs. Any way here are some pics I managed to take as you can imagine it was packed.

I have to say though we are exhausted.. it was a really long day, we got over there and parked at the local high school which was on the main road and then walked down to meet the beavers and cubs leaders but because there were so many there we kinda split up to watch the torch go past.. (but at least they will get their Olympic badge out of it lol ) All in All we were in Faversham waiting around about 5 hours so by the time it had gone past… and I mean gone past as he ran by us like the clappers.. the boys were ready to go home , feed and go to bed.

It’s Finally coming

The Holidays are nearly upon us……….At Last!

Today I have rejoiced in the fact that i wont be making any more packed lunches until September because I am collecting kids early tomorrow to take them to go and see the Olympic flame come through Faversham and they are having a school dinner Friday.

This really has been a long school term one way or another… So many things going on

We had Ali’s Birthday on July 1st when we went to his favourite place to see the steam trains, as it goes there was a teddy bear hunt on that day as well so he loved it
I actually feel guilty because Allan has said I would bake 40 odd cupcakes for the bowls do at the bowls club which was going to be on the saturday but they changed it to sunday which was Ali’s birthday so by Saturday evening I had made so many cup cakes and decorated them that I couldn’t be bothered to make a birthday cake for Ali’s Birthday so I bought one… it was horrible .. Never again from now on I will always make the kids cakes.

The boys have had so much going on with the school and cubs and beavers…

Alex went to cub camp last weekend and it poured down but despite being soaked through he loved every second of it.

I seem to have gained a lodger… Allan’s step daughter.. Amberleigh (his ex wives daughter that he took on as his years ago when he married her) who has been living with her boy friend sent a text this morning saying can she stay with us and bring all her stuff… we of course said yes… within an hour or so she was here… kinda a relief really as she was only 19 in march and she was living with a 34 yr old drug addict who is on meths but still deals, :-/ and lived at home with his mum and dad.. if we had said we didn’t like him then of course would have pushed here closer to him so we kept quiet and waited.. looks like it was worth the wait.. in the mean time need to get the back room cleared now and a new bed for her.. at the moment she will have to put up with the sofa

I’m not getting rid of everything this time as I don’t want it to be like when Tamara decided to move in, we got rid of all the stuff in there and then she left…

So all the exercise equipment is going up in the loft.. We are getting an ottoman bed that has loads of storage inside for all the fishing gear etc and she will have to put up with the tumble dryer staying in there and the boys big train track board. I was going to get a sofa bed but think a storage bed is best in case we ever need another bed if she does leave.

I never seem to have five mins to myself lately I am either out with some friends.. we have a weekly coffee morning, plus I am still working on de-cluttering slowly.

Roll on the summer holidays.. I have a lot of stuff planned but it will be nice just to sit back and think today we don’t have to do anything!

I give up I really do! I can do nothing right these last few days!

Have you ever tried to help someone and it totally backfired?
I feel like that everything I have done this week has gone tit’s up!

First one person who I shall call *MK* those who know her will know why I have used *MK*,  who is continuously on about how much sweet stuff *MK* eats or energy drinks she has and who is always moaning about headaches………. was saying yet again how she needed an energy drink (bearing in mind she has done nothing but post pictures and say how much she loves her energy drinks ) and I said to *MK* just be a touch careful and it may be worth getting her blood sugars tested  (as I know how easy it is for diabetes to creep up on you) and that she had three lovely kids who needed their mum and *MK* went in to her usual childish rant which seems to happen quite often when something is said that she takes personally … now if I had called *MK* a fat  lazy and someone who does nothing and lets her other half do it all when it comes to dealing with the kids and who does nothing but stuff her face full of munch as she calls it all the time while not letting the kids or even her other half have it  and then says how expensive to go on a diet… I could understand it… mind you all of that is true to a certain extent anyway
well what do you know *MK* removed me from her facebook friend list….  I do know how hard it is to diet but I also know how bad to much sugar can make you feel  and all her symptoms I would say were down to her diet.. I know I am in a pissed off mood but I didnt say it to her to be nasty I said it to her because I know how these things can creep up on you…   she is young has kids….  I am 50  I know for a fat that I didn’t have high cholesterol and wasn’t a diabetic at 22  If I was I doubt I would be here now.

Like I said Have you ever tried to help someone and it totally backfired?

Anyway the day did get better, I meet Mary in Asda’s and we decided to have a coffee while we are there and I get the phone call from Allan asking how long I am going to be because he wants to go up the town and check out the phone upgrades,  so he has the hump for a while.  then while we are out  my phone text alert goes and………………..

I get a message from Vickie saying the dongle is not working…   go back in time. she is now in a hostel and I lent her the laptop and Jo lent Vickie her dongle… Jo had taken her sim card out so I had bought a new sim for the dongle… big mistake… turns out the sim i had bought was the wrong one…  yes phone ones did used to work but since they moved over to the micro sim the old phone sims no longer work and you had to get a new internet one..   sadly Vickie had put some money on it and of course it’s not working , can totally understand why she was gutted…   but I was fuming with the three shop she went to… apart from telling her the sim card was fake… like fuck it was as I bought it from a reputable mobile shop and the dongle was fucked… well we know it wasn’t fucked as it’s not that long since its been in use and not only that it loaded up on the laptop…  it was just the wrong sim…. instead of telling her that… they tried selling her a new dongle for £30…  and wouldn’t give her the £25 she had put on the sim,  bastards…..
hopefully it’s sorted now as Jo spent nearly two hours taking to three head office and they have agreed if we buy a new internet sim (yes still available in the old size) for the dongle then they will transfer the money over and credit the new sim. I have my fingers crossed because we can’t sort this out until at least Monday when Jo gets paid as we are all skint at the moment.
I feel bad because this is all my fault for buying the wrong sim for the dongle..

Then its time to take Ali and Alex to beavers and cubs… Jo wants to take Adam along so he can join so we both go and Adam joins then we nip to asda’s for 3/4 hour to kill time,  until  its time to get Adam and Ali and drop Alex at cubs…(beavers and cubs are held up the school) we then go home, Jo takes Adam in and I get Ali in by which time Allan is back .. we now have until 7.30 to collect Alex as cubs are longer than beavers……..
I get Alex and they tell me that next we he is going to be inaugurated next week which I know is going to piss Ali off when Alex gets his scarf and Ali doesn’t…  but and here is the clincher… Cubs have their summer camp and they have said Alex could go…. bugger more expense…… ok only £20 but we have Ali’s birthday coming up and school trip to pay for.. plus save up for when we go away.  and of course the beavers camp was before Ali started so it’s not as if he can go… we said we would think about it but Alex went into one so the day started off with someone throwing a paddy *MK* and ended with Alex throwing a paddy……  oh what fun
I go onto face book once I have got the boys to bed and on my wall it shows *MK* having another rant at someone on her status… (because someone I know had commented on it and it still showed up as she had just removed me and not blocked me) I read it … thought FFS I really don’t need this , with any luck one day someone is going to lay her out and it’s not worth me doing time for it. I have a mega headache and really can’t be arsed anymore..
so I Blocked her…… I feel so much better for that.. I never have to see her rants again and yes she does rant at everyone on a regular basis.

Next Friday should be interesting as we are all supposed to be meeting up for a coffee… Me, Gladys, Mary, Terri and *MK* bet she dont come lol

Then we have Friday:
The plan was I go shopping, I come back.. Allan and I go out for a meal at the Jenny wren… we get the two courses for two people for £9  I have some vouchers for buy one get one free drinks so should be a cheap lunch lol
no when we eventually get there he decided he wants the proper meal. oh and the combo starter and desert… £30 odd later meal over…….. Next time he can take me lol
We get home and I still have a pounding headache from the day before…… we end up falling asleep on the sofa’s  and end up waking up this morning

Allan is Bowls today and I still haven’t sewn up the hem on his white trousers  so he moans… well tough  wear your other trousers……….

I go upstairs and the boys have been in my bedroom been in my jewellery box and lost some bits , broken a bracelet  we have a go at them for that tell them to keep out of our room and not to touch anything that is not theirs and we go back in later on to find they had got something else out… I feel like I am banging my head against a brick wall,
I am starting to wonder what will work, we take away stuff… we throw away stuff , we confine them to their room, we take away the tv lead,   we stop treats… short of  my dads suggestion   Take the belt to them it never hurt you…. well actually it did… but then I did learn my lesson and never did it again.. however father if I did that now I would have social services banging on my door and putting them in care and I would be arrested as a child beater………  I give up……
If anything else goes wrong today I will just punch someone.  over the age of 18 who is not going to contact the police 🙄

Roll on Sunday….  oh hang on my dad is over tomorrow for dinner……………. Cancel that……..
