Hornby Again and Again… Love Annual tickets.

We have bought an Annual family ticket for Hornbys for the last three years and get our moneys worth out of them with the make and paints and other visits.. I would say we go at least twice a month so I don’t always take many pictures  but this visit was the opening of a new exhibit for the D Day landing.. and what a model it was.

Sparkys Adventures!

Sparky is the class mascot… every weekend or so one of the kids gets to bring him home and write in his book what he did.

Well Ali came home with him at the beginning of the holiday.

So this is what he put in Sparkys book

What sparky did when he stayed with me by Ali Smedley

Sparky set up his own Moshi monsters account so he could play on the computer.

He may like to play at other people’s houses so if he wants to the link is

And his owner name is

sparkysadventures

and the password is

sparky

He also came with me to the cubs cardboard box camp out

We also went to Hornbys and looked around the shop and museum and then made a model and afterwards Sparky had a burger king.

Hornby

Another day out Sparky came on was to see Greenwich.

He saw the Cutty Sark and the National Maritime Museum and lots of other places in Greenwich. I think Sparky enjoyed his visit with me.

 Greenwich

Well I don’t know about Sparky enjoying his visit but Ali enjoyed having him stay with us…  for a boy who doesn’t do toys he loves stuffed toys..   to the point where he was rather upset to see Sparky go……  hmmmm  Not impressed at the fact that Sparky  cost over £25 to £35 to replace but we will see what happens and if he can wait as Ali has decided he may like his own Sparky for his birthday.

3 more weeks of summer break left…….. Time is flying so quickly

I can’t get over how quick these summer holidays are going………
We are taking the boys out as much as we can on very limited funds…

Thankfully having membership to English Heritage and Hornby  and Wildwood, has saved us fortunes as we can do day trips out, take a picnic and all it really costs us is some fuel money..

We have been to our local pool on a regular basis,  Plus we got the boys a 10ft x 4ft pool for the garden so they could cool down when it got really hot.

DSCN8200 DSCN8207

we have taken them to Hornby for make and paint days again and of course the spitfire museum and raf manston museum… all regular places we visit.

We also have started going to the local car cruise’s  where all the people take their cars to show them off, the one we went to at the beginning of the month was at Dockside.  its held on the first thursday of every month and this is definitely going to be a regular with us now if we can afford the fuel to get there.

One of the treats we did take them to was Lydden Hill Race Track Drifting Championships,  Ok I admit I got the tickets given to me but hey it was a treat for us.. and we loved it… we were babysitting a friends 9 month old little girl Shelby~Anne for the weekend so she came with us as well,  The boys loved it and I have to admit so did I, I am and always have been a bit of a petrol head but its been a long time since I have been to Lydden, in actual fact I used to go to the motorbike races there years ago.

Anyway we will definitely be going back I think the next drifting is going to be in October.

We Also took Shelby~Anne out with us to wildwood the next day,  Apart from the boys arguing who was going to push the buggy we had a great day and despite the threat of rain from the weatherman we had a lovely day.

Other than that we have taken the boys up the park to ride their bikes…. Well Alex ride his bike…

Ali has no co-ordination to ride a bike, even with stabilises fixed on it which are designed for disabled children he struggles so I’m holding off actually buying him a new bike, we were considering getting him a bmx type scooter as he seemed to be able to manage riding the micro scooter he had before it broke.
and they have begged us to have days staying in at home so they can play Minecraft on the pc’s

So………….. that’s the last two weeks of the Holiday………. As I said 3 More weeks to go

The promised update:

Ok I must start off  with the pictures of Vickie during her head shave for red nose day…  I’m not sure of the exact amount she raised…  but the just giving site says its
£432.10  although I have a feeling its a lot more than that because there were some who donated directly via her.

We went to Hornby make and paint days a couple of times…….  the kids love it here so it’s another of the places we have an annual ticket and keep going to over and over again

We had a morning of cake decorating which was gratefully received by friends …………   Now I usually stick to butter frosting and or just Glacé icing  or Royal Icing when it comes to things like Christmas Cakes but for a change I used Fondant Icing and petal paste…..    This has now convinced me I really must do more because some are pretty dire :/

And then we had a quick trip to Pontins at Camber…….  I had it well planned I packed school uniforms with me so they would have a clean one , I collected the boys from school, we drove straight to Pontins……… spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there and drove back early Monday morning in time to get the boys to school… I timed it perfectly… we had them outside the school gates at 8.40 🙂
After having such rainy or cold weather….. we had a fantastic weekend it was lovely and warm and yep I got sunburnt…  I do confess we go club.. which is kinda like as close to first class as you are going to get at pontins.. with the free breakfast and bottle of wine , free electric, tv , newspapers , welcome packs blah blah blah.. I have no idea what the Popular or Classic flats are like , some of them looked quite dire…………  we stayed in one ten years ago when I was pregnant with Alex and it really was pathetic and grubby and they don’t look like they have changed much since…   Hence why we go club….
To be fair I didn’t take many pictures this time as I took loads last time we went and we are going again this year……… ok I was having fun……… I didn’t want to miss out standing behind the camera 😆
Not only that we spent 50% of the time in the pool , One slightly worrying moment when Alex ran off and went on the big inflatable Aqua Course which starts at the deep end and goes all the way to the shallow end about 3ft deep , Alex leaps on and at the first bit falls off right into the water about 7 ft deep……..  at this point I seriously wonder how good his swimming is lol but he bob’s up to the top and off he swims front crawl to the side of the pool. joins the queue and starts again only this time he completes the course and joined the queue again… over and over… I think after the 5th go he got bored with it..

In between All these activities as such of course Allan still does his recycle round collecting cardboard for the scouts and doing his leader training ….

here he is getting invested into the scouts as cub leader

IMAG0268 IMAG0269 IMAG0270

And last but not least yesterday we went to the District Scout Inspection, Formal Service and St George’s Day Fete  where The Sittingbourne and Milton District Scout Group had invited the Mayor to jointly inspect the Scouts with the District Commissioner, at Bexon Lane Scout Camp  All the troops were asked to wear full uniform with school /smart/ uniform trousers and school shoes or their scouting hiking boots (cleaned up of course lol)  sadly a few let us down but with a little maneuvering the *scruffy* ones were put in the middle

It was Allans first Official Duty as a Scout leader and to top the day off Alex was chosen as flag bearer  all in all a lovely day.. and the smash a plate stand that we manned afterwards went well, and to top off the day we had lovely sunshine all day despite the weather forecast.

Allan In his uniform... I have to confess when I said I had a thing for men in uniform this wasn't quite what I had in mind.
