Whats Happening?

Well Not a lot to be honest……….. Allan has been working especially at weekends so we haven’t really been out and about much…….

Alex has got the cooking bug so at least three times a week he is cooking dinner…………

We got the results of the Kent Test (11 plus) he took back in September….  and he passed  but has changed his mind about going to the grammar school, well we hope he has…….. I haven’t put it on the preferences for senior school choice but there again I’m not holding my breath for the school I do want him to go to as I want him to go to Westlands, Yes I know its had some bad press but at the end of the day its had excellent ofsted reports. I know the school, it has been kept up with the times and looks clean and modern in comparison to the grammar school which doesn’t look like its had a coat of paint since my oldest went there to look around.  but I have been told that westlands have an intake priority to get in..
1.  Local Authority
2. Siblings
3. Regis Manor
4. Westlands Primary
5. Maths Aptitude test….. (sadly Alex’s worst subject)
6 surrounding villages such as Iwade, and Newington
And then
7. Other areas and applicants……
And although it’s the closest senior school to us oddly we don’t fall under the catchment area… that is for Fulston Manor..
I know I have the right to appeal but I have a feeling its going to be a battle…..

We will have to wait and see now until March.

Its getting close to the end of term now and I can tell, the boys are getting tired… unfortunately we are not going to be able to go and do much over the holidays as I have to take my dad up to London to St Thomas Hospital on Monday  for  more cardio appointments…….. I’m hoping that I can go for a walk across westminster bridge and around the houses of parliament while dad is in the hospital.    Tuesday I  have to take Ali to his asthma consultant appointment at Medway hospital,  Wednesday is Alex’s doctors appointment… Thursday Ali opticians and take the old man shopping and I’m sure there was something I had to do Friday…..  Hopefully we will be able to take the boys somewhere.. or at least I will..  otherwise its going to be a very boring half term.

Other than that . Not a lot going on at the moment…….

Hate this time of year after a busy summer………… I’m busy because I’m doing my courses……. I’m now teaching on a Friday with Adults instead of children……..  So much better as I wasn’t keen on the idea of working with kids……….  Mine I tolerate…everyone else’s I can’t stand 😉 (joke) I think………….   We have stopped the cardboard collecting and to be honest there is a rather nasty atmosphere at the scouts at the moment I will go into more detail when I find out what’s going on but lets just say after we have given it our all for the last two years we are feeling rather peeved at the moment.. I have kept away and Allan just goes on a Thursday as assistant cub leader…….

Time will tell if my theory is right………..

Apologies as usual

Yet again I find myself saying sorry for not updating, I have just been so busy with this course and started another one as well, community learning champions, I will explain all about this later.   Life is really hectic at the moment what with the college and of course the collecting cardboard for the scouts and recycling it, this takes up two sometimes three days a week, from when we drop the boys off at school until we collected them again.

Also I am struggling at the moment nursing a nasty burn to my stomach, my cooker is situated across the kitchen from my sink (not my idea in the design of the kitchen) anyway I was going to drain a huge pan of boiled potatoes and just as I got to the sink my wrist gave out and instead of the water going in the sink it went down my front instead.. I managed to rip my shirt off in time but I had jeans on and the water was all on the waistband hence the burn across my tummy.

I know that with most big burns you should seek medical attention but bearing in mind both myself and Allan are fully trained first aiders.. we were the medical attention, so having done the usual, cold, then wrap in the cling-wrap to keep out infection etc… it blistered the next day and because of where it is the blister burst , so with a burn gauze dressing on I managed for a few days but then it was getting really painful so a bath and soak the dressing off and now it’s slowly healing in the open but I’m still very sore and now it’s getting to the itchy stage around the edge….. yay healing at last….  thankfully I am past the age where I worry about scars as this is going to be a good one… about 6 inches across and two down,  even sitting was painful, but as usual we have to carry on.

And the way my luck was going I knew something else would go wrong.. and this is where I have to announce some sad news..

My dishwasher has died… it has gone to the great electrical heaven in the sky, I know I cant complain I have had it years and I got it 3rd hand.. When I looked up the part I needed.. (water intake valve) it’s no longer available as it’s over 20 years old :-/  So for now until I can get another one second-hand and cheap I am having to actually wash up!!!!!

Well that’s it for now… I will try to catch up soon…… Bare with me lol

I’m Back with a vengance……… Well when I get a chance to get on the pc.

Many apologies , As well as having major internet problems so I could only connect with my phone for ages and my phone hated WordPress :/

I also now have the problem of two kids getting on my pc constantly so the only chance I get to go online is around midnight when I am ready to collapse at the end of the day.

And I had to reclaim my blog……. I couldn’t log in at all, trying to explain that I have been doing this blog for years and could tell them what was in nearly every post… reclaiming a blog from WordPress is not easy…  It kept telling me my email address was no longer active………  Buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt…..  It works fine….

Anyway I am back after a fashion I do confess time is limited as it is the summer break for the kids……..

So what’s been happening……
Where do I start………. We have been away to camp with the scout group…………. (pics below)
The one who shall not be named but was always talking bollocks and has the most obnoxious non disciplined child going has now finally moved and life is so much quieter..

Amber’s Boyfriend…….. A lovely lad NOT… had a row with her and started off shouting at us to get out and threw a handful of stones at our front room window causing loads of cracks and chips,  so big window needs replacing.  he then smashed the back windscreen on my car…… the back side window… kicked the side in all down the driver’s side and jumped up and down on my bonnet..   he then threw a stone (well actually it was a concrete ornament from the garden across the road from us)  through the back window of the landrover……

So  in a nutshell
We have been out and about,
We all went to the great adventure scout camp out………  🙂
My name is Falcon when I help out at the scouts as an occasional helper.
We also collect cardboard and newspapers every Tuesday and Wednesday on behalf of the scouts…… this takes us usually from when we drop the boys at school in the morning until its time to go and collected.. them… on average we are collecting,. flat packing etc stacking in van  and then unpacking and taking to the recycle point and putting it all in a designated skip for cardboard… usually we get about 3/4 of a tonne  so hard work really..

Alex and the school team reached the Finals in the Swale Schools Cricket tournament, It was a long day for him but he did fantastic and is now the proud owner of a lovely silver medal,

I did a sugar craft course and made a few bits……..  I have a wedding cake to make so wanted to be able to do some bits for it..

we spent 6 hours stuck in traffic due to very poor management, to get to the Manston Airshow I was not a happy bunny, being stuck for 6 hours not even moving.. so was a 7 hour trip altogether.,  with a chatty 9 yr old… and Autistic 7 yr old  who doesnt do waiting or queuing, A diabetic disabled pensioner and a stressed partner was not good..  thankfully I had packed a picnic for the day so that was eaten before we even got there….    when we did the first port of call was of course the toilets…..  we had missed the majority of the show and the boys just did some water zorbing before we left..  to go home again… time to get home 3/4 hour……..   demand for refund of ticket in the post…
We have been to a few fun days where the boys made smoothies with  a bike and  built-in blender ,
We have had sports day where again Alex won a medal for coming second..  He joined the cricket club and athletics club after school so loves all this kind of stuff.
We Took Ali to wormshill and bredgar railway for a birthday treat.  again we go every year for his birthday and he loves going..

After the scout camp out where they had bike riding activities and of course Alex couldn’t do it because he didn’t know how to ride a bike.. (Yes I know i am a bad mummy but I dont let the boys play out so he never had a chance to really ride a bike )

So Anyway………….. We took Alex to the park to teach him how to ride his bike… it took him about 4 mins and that was it he was off riding round the park,  so a trip to halfords later and he has a shiny new bike 🙂 we had promised the boys when they could ride a bike properly we would buy a brand new one …   I knew We never should have promised that one lol
we have now put stabilisers on the smaller bike we had that Alex learnt on  for Ali.We had to order some special ones to fit the size of the wheel and of course take the weight of a larger child but sadly his lack of co-ordination and visual problems have made it rather hard for him :/ but we will keep trying… Plan B is if he can’t learn to ride a bike get him a proper scooter.  not the micro one like he has but a good one with pneumatic tyres and proper brakes…..  we will see how he goes.

So in a nutshell that is about it…
Hopefully I have made sure that my blog will stay safe from now on and I will be able to log in…,  Our internet access will be ok after a replacement of three faulty modems…….  and my kids don’t spend every second that we are indoors on the computer…….

I will catch up on everything and I’m really sorry to the lovely Jodi I have read your books and thought they were fantastic… and will get the reviews written asap 🙂
So until the next time………………………..
Here is a little collection of pics……

The promised update:

Ok I must start off  with the pictures of Vickie during her head shave for red nose day…  I’m not sure of the exact amount she raised…  but the just giving site says its
£432.10  although I have a feeling its a lot more than that because there were some who donated directly via her.

hair it is (pun….. get it get it get it 🙂 … going going gone……

We went to Hornby make and paint days a couple of times…….  the kids love it here so it’s another of the places we have an annual ticket and keep going to over and over again

FB_IMG_13515203088929239 SAM_0541 SAM_0543

We had a morning of cake decorating which was gratefully received by friends …………   Now I usually stick to butter frosting and or just Glacé icing  or Royal Icing when it comes to things like Christmas Cakes but for a change I used Fondant Icing and petal paste…..    This has now convinced me I really must do more because some are pretty dire :/

And then we had a quick trip to Pontins at Camber…….  I had it well planned I packed school uniforms with me so they would have a clean one , I collected the boys from school, we drove straight to Pontins……… spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday night there and drove back early Monday morning in time to get the boys to school… I timed it perfectly… we had them outside the school gates at 8.40 🙂
After having such rainy or cold weather….. we had a fantastic weekend it was lovely and warm and yep I got sunburnt…  I do confess we go club.. which is kinda like as close to first class as you are going to get at pontins.. with the free breakfast and bottle of wine , free electric, tv , newspapers , welcome packs blah blah blah.. I have no idea what the Popular or Classic flats are like , some of them looked quite dire…………  we stayed in one ten years ago when I was pregnant with Alex and it really was pathetic and grubby and they don’t look like they have changed much since…   Hence why we go club….
To be fair I didn’t take many pictures this time as I took loads last time we went and we are going again this year……… ok I was having fun……… I didn’t want to miss out standing behind the camera 😆
Not only that we spent 50% of the time in the pool , One slightly worrying moment when Alex ran off and went on the big inflatable Aqua Course which starts at the deep end and goes all the way to the shallow end about 3ft deep , Alex leaps on and at the first bit falls off right into the water about 7 ft deep……..  at this point I seriously wonder how good his swimming is lol but he bob’s up to the top and off he swims front crawl to the side of the pool. joins the queue and starts again only this time he completes the course and joined the queue again… over and over… I think after the 5th go he got bored with it..

In between All these activities as such of course Allan still does his recycle round collecting cardboard for the scouts and doing his leader training ….

here he is getting invested into the scouts as cub leader

And last but not least yesterday we went to the District Scout Inspection, Formal Service and St George’s Day Fete  where The Sittingbourne and Milton District Scout Group had invited the Mayor to jointly inspect the Scouts with the District Commissioner, at Bexon Lane Scout Camp  All the troops were asked to wear full uniform with school /smart/ uniform trousers and school shoes or their scouting hiking boots (cleaned up of course lol)  sadly a few let us down but with a little maneuvering the *scruffy* ones were put in the middle

It was Allans first Official Duty as a Scout leader and to top the day off Alex was chosen as flag bearer  all in all a lovely day.. and the smash a plate stand that we manned afterwards went well, and to top off the day we had lovely sunshine all day despite the weather forecast.

Allan In his uniform... I have to confess when I said I had a thing for men in uniform this wasn't quite what I had in mind.

And  That is it for now………….. Phew………………  Hopefully I can keep up to date in future but that’s not a promise lol

We are still here and my son is 9

Yesterday was not only was  the prophesy of end of the world,  it was also Alex’s 9th Birthday.

He has been annoying the hell out of us playing his battle strikers and constantly has his new mp3 player stuck in his ears…

oh and we have been eating birthday cake. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm cake…….

I on the other hand am now full of man flu which is not good especially considering the time of the year…..

My wrapping fairy came round yesterday while the boys were at school so everything is wrapped and bagged and ready,

some presents have already been given out and under the receiving persons tree..

Again I went overboard on the boys presents…….. the problem with buying stuff throughout the year is you forget what you have got or how much

Every year I say I am going to make a list and keep a record of what I have got for everyone, I have even said I would wrap it all up as I go along… Maybe next year

After all i didn’t even have to buy wrapping paper as I got loads on sale last year so I could have wrapped throughout the year after all,

I will be more organised.. I will keep a list… but I do think the boys will be happy..  they have no idea what they get for Christmas, I don’t believe in making Christmas lists.

I’m a mum I am their mum, I know the type of stuff they like…   I don’t believe in spoiling them during the year… if we go to a museum or somewhere they get a little souvenir such as a pencil and rubber or badge or patch to go on their blanket..  they get one item for their birthday… this year Alex got two because usually we take them out on a trip for their birthday but we couldn’t on Alex’s this year as he had school, every year before they usually break up the day before…  so instead of having what it cost to go out.. he got the extra present..  what he doesn’t know is it didn’t cost the £28.99 that he saw in argos but the £8.99 we paid on Amazon..  In fact I confess I have done most of my christmas shopping from the internet throughout the year when I have seen some good deals.   Sorry high streets of the country..

Thanks to the 99p shop I have now got a nice new Christmas dinner service.. without having to use the paper plates I usually use….. this I can put away and it can be used year after year…..

As I type the boys are at the Christmas pantomime in the local theatre with the cubs and beavers… Allan has gone along as he is an Occasional Helper with the scouts… soon to be leader…… will go into more detail about that when I get the time as we are both helping out the beavers and cubs a lot now..
After the pantomime we are heading off to take the boys to see Santa……  hopefully pics to follow tomorrow if I have time to post just to really bore you all…….

Anyway…  Time for me to go and get ready and blow my streaming nose before Allan gets back.
Oh and one more thing……..

See I told you I knew that the world wasn’t going to end yesterday
After All, Marty McFly travelled to 2015 😉

Back to normal until the next royal event .

We are halfway through the week back at school after the half term last week and the jubilee events at school the week before and at last things are getting back to normal.

Yes I am not ashamed to say I am a royalist… It took 8 years of living in America to make me appreciate having a royal family.

and the one thing I remember most was how jealous of our royal family the Americans were..  It was a form of continuity that they never had..

one of the things that really peeve me is the amount of people slating the royal family and how much they cost the tax payer.. they are totally ignorant of how much revenue they bring in to the country

oh  another thing is how many 80 and 90 yr olds do you know that work the hours they do…. yes exactly not many… The average man is now complaining because the government have now raised the age of retirement… lets see them work until the day they die.
here are a couple of good bits of info for all those who think the royal family are a drain on the countries resources

Anyway I digress
After all the celebrations of last week with the Jubilee like I said its nice to get back to normal
I am glad that the boys got to take part in such a monumental event and I hope in later years they look back on it with a smile.. I still remember the queens silver Jubilee in 1977 when I was 14   I remember the schools handing out mugs

and I remember the street parties and special events… I even remember attending a disco and colouring my hair silver for the occasion.  (My hair was white blonde when I was born and not much darker when I was 14  Yes I know by the time I was an adult it was mousey brown but I have to confess to it now getting lighter again… Just a shame its going gray now instead of blonde ) Anyway.. My mother went mad at me colouring my hair especially when It wouldn’t wash out again as I had used a permanent hair dye by mistake..

The boys have their school parties and the Fridge Magnets and certificates to look back on. They have the party up at the scouts camp-site……..  The tug of war……. the games…………. The shows on tv which they sat glued to … such as the river pageant……. the concert at the palace…….. the fly over……. (yes that really impressed them with their beloved planes)
Oh and the boys favourite part of all the celebrations  the marquee full of food that everyone had taken in…… I made a cake and some sausage rolls.
there was enough food to feed about 400 people.
and then there was the sitting outside eating it under umbrellas.

I bet they will always remember that as well.
And At least they got some wear out of the union jack t-shirts and shorts I got them and the crowns we made as they wore them for everything as you can see from the last blog post and the pic of Ali at his school party and they will do them for the summer Thats if we ever have a summer 🙂

So much going on at the moment

I know I know, I promise I will keep up to day on my blog but then life takes over and I never seem to have time,
We have had a lovely Facebook friend I am proud to have met,  Vickie stay with us for a while.

The boys have had loads of things going on at school, Thankfully now they have broken up for half term Its a scary thought not long to go until the summer holidays.

Alex has joined the cubs and Ali the beavers and they love it.. there was a BBQ and activities evening the other day at the main scout building and I couldn’t believe the amount of stuff there or how big it was.

you are not really allowed to take pictures there but Allan managed to sneak in a couple. The boys haven’t been inaugurated yet so didn’t wear their uniform (however I have it ready ) The should be invested in a few weeks they cant wait to get their badges . Allan is thinking about helping out…  That should be interesting .

What else have we been up to? Ah yes…
We went sea fishing over at Barton Point…

Again the boys loved being out and about. Allan and Alex did the fishing thing, Ali sat by the sea getting soaked and Vickie and I stayed most of the time in the shelter… I am getting more mobile but have to say getting up and down and out and about on the very loose shingle and stones was not easy.  but this time 4 months ago i wouldn’t have been able to get out of the car so things are getting a lot better. Health wise I have been perfect. with the exception of what I think is a little hay fever my chest is clear still.   Slowly starting to get my life back.  Still get very tired and still in quite a bit of pain but what Allan doesn’t know doesn’t hurt him lol I use the famous words… I’m alright!

We also went over to leysdown for a day out with the boys, first we went to the amusements, did some bowling and then we went over to leysdown and did some metal detecting on the beach.

Alex had Bagheera for the day, the class stuffed Animal that was adopted, So we took Bagheera to the park.

And on another day out we took the dog for a walk to capstone park…. fantastic place there the boys loved it.

What else have we been up to… Oh yes, Last but not least the boys have had a jubilee party at school. and yesterday I got into the spirit and made them some cakes, They have another Jubilee party to go to with the scouts on Tuesday as well so their red white and blue clothes will have lots of use.

So as you can see, I really have been busy and not had time to update 🙂

As I always say I will try and do better next time.
